Hidden Talents

I've been such a crappy blogger this week, but it's all in the name of writing. I've been writing and rewriting and editing and chopping so much that I think I might have gone just a little bit (more) batty. I dumped that sucker off at the post office today and I swear I almost dove in the bin after it. No! It's not ready!

Okay, so now that my brain is mush and my anxiety has reached its peak level, I think I'll focus on the positive today. You should, too.

A Few of the Many* Hidden Talents of Wendy Cebula:

---I'm good at reading aloud. I read to my kids every night and to entertain myself I do so with drama and flair. But not over-the-top drama, or the girls start to get snippy. ("Mom, stop with the voices.") I've honed this skill to a fine sheen over the years. Right now we are reading Nail Gaiman, which gives me ample opportunities.

---I'm good with directions. I can find a car in any parking lot and can trace my steps backward with stunning accuracy. I think I was a homing pigeon in a former life.

---I'm good at maintaining friendships. The "plays well with others" box was always checked "excellent" on my report cards. I may have grown a little bitchier overall through the years, but I'm still a good friend.

I do wish I was better at things like hair braiding (terrible mess) and artsy-craftsy projects (forget about it), but I'll survive. Notice that I didn't list "writing" up there in my talents. That's because, although I have days where I'm certain that's true, I'm having a you-must-be-delusional day at the moment. It will pass.

I hope.

Tell me about your hidden talents.

*"many" meaning, well, not so many.

I'm trying to think of some! I'm passionate and enthusiastic. I tend to be an ADD listener, and it might seem like I'm interrupting sometimes and not listening, but I listen and remember everything. Sometimes I process it all later, when my brain isn't going so fast, LOL!

I love Neil Gaiman!

Kathy, Folding your tongue in half? I would probably be ten years younger if I'd been smart enough to figure that one out!!

Wendy, My hidden talents. Hmmm. I think they're all fairly well exposed, so to speak: Writing songs; singing; writing things other than songs; playing with my cats (if you saw me do it, you'd know it was a talent); being a mom; organizing things; decorating; and my most impressive talent? Laying out at the pool, drinking wine, and reading "People." I rock at that!

Wendy! Good luck. I can't wait to hear what Ms. Agent thinks now.

I like your list. I'm good at putting myself in others' shoes, listening, and decorating. :)

Best of luck to your baby on her journey!

Hidden talents? I love writing poetry, but I don't really hide it. I'm a good listener, volunteer, empathizer, team player and dedicated. I don't mind doing grunge work either. :)

what a great post - makes you think about youself alot

1. shameless plugger (and you'll see why) lol

i've started a writer's forum
where aspiring authors etc. can come and chat and discuss topics and ideas and basically help each other.

I love blogging but it can be both hard to get a readership and connect with them so i thought a community forum would be a great way to network.

The forum is only starting out but i'm hoping it will grow,

I'd really appreciate it if you could take the time and have a look around.

thanks emily.

LOL! Congrats on getting the piece sent out. :)

My hidden talents? I have a crazy memory - I can recall the most mundane facts or snippets of conversations. When I wrote the first draft of my memoir I could remember entire conversations verbatim, with very few notes to rely on. It comes in handy, especially since my hubby understands my power. Bwah-hah-hah!

I'm also very good at giving advice. :)

I'm a good listener
I have a head full of useless information (which I hope helps me if/when I make it on to Who Wants to be a Millionaire?)

*I almost dove in the bin after it. No! It's not ready!* LOL Good luck!

My talents: I think outside the box and I'm not afraid to get up in front of people and do something goofy.

My talents or vices:
horses and equine therapy, currently able to stuff a tube down a pony's throat without help 2x day. THAT is a victory!
Kids. They are a blast! I love what you can learn from them if you are quiet and wait. That skill I learned from my horses.
Poker. If feeling vicious, I can take all of granny's money. She is my gal!
I love to laugh.
I love to drink and I can tie a cherry stem in a knot in 7 seconds flat.
I love to spend money.heheheheh
I can always find a way to make things better. Hot glue and duct tape are a mom's best friend.
I am a good artist
I am a great friend
I am also a dork and proud of it.
