Join Me for a Quick Brag, Won't You?

I’m feeling pretty good about myself today. I’ve completed my first novel-length piece and just sent it off for a critique. This is a big deal for me because a) I haven’t worked for money in over 8 years (although I’ve been busy doing lots of child-raising and fundraising for non-profits) and b) because I could have grown bored or stuck and quit writing at any time, and in very non-Wendy fashion, I didn’t.

I so rarely get a chance to just out-and-out brag about my own accomplishments, so dammit, I’m gonna do it today. Yay me.

Let us all be narcissistic today! Please share a brag about yourself

I'm going to the Eden project this summer! (It's a nifty garden place with rainforests in giant domes)

Not much of an achievement brag, but I've wanted to go since it first opened. I have a good camera now too, so I should get lots of pictures.

I don't have anything to brag about (except maybe that I just graduated). Maybe then I'll just announce to everyone your accomplishments. Woo hoo for Wendy!

Wendy, Congratulations!!! That is a wonderful accomplishment, and you deserve to brag. Make all your family members and best friends listen to you for at least an hour. That's what I do when I'm really, really pleased with myself. They tolerate it because I only do it once in a while and I listen as compassionately as I can to them all the rest of the time.

Please let us know how the critique goes. And again, you go girl.

Congrats! And just remember with crits, only take to heart those comments which resonate with you; I just actually got a pretty nasty crit from a reader, but I many of the comments weren't constructive at all. So only worry about the crits that strike a chord with you. Don't lose your vision!

I'm in the middle of beta reading right now. It's not easy because I have to be honest and respectful at the same time. Maybe I'll blog about my experience.

The Eden project sounds interesting, Polenth. Giant domes? Neat.

Congrats, Miss Lissy. That's something to brag about, indeed.

Thanks, everyone, for stopping by. And don't be shy about bragging. It can be as inane as "I found the perfect shade of polish for my toes." Actually, I'd really like to hear that one.

Hooray for you Wendy, that's fantastic!

I'll try to humbly brag (is that possible?) about having sung at a special service on Saturday. Many in the crowd had heard me before, but many more hadn't. There were lots of compliments and praises afterward, and it makes a girl feel good. :)

I betcha Melanie could chime in with a toe-related brag or two. ;) lol

Congratulations! You should brag! When I finished the last edits on my manuscript last week I wanted to remember what it felt like and cherish the moment, so I had the bf go out and get champagne so we could toast in the middle of the day. Then, I took a long nap.

My brag: 5 manuscript requests! Yay! But, really, I'm scared to death and am trying to enjoy this part because I'm sure rejections will begin to arrive shortly.

Congratulations Wendy! That's a HUGE accomplishment! :D

A toe-related brag? Hmm, I don't know about that. I'm proud that I unclogged our bathroom sink over the weekend. It required removing parts of the pipe and now it's as good as new!

I was recently hired to do a writing workshop for middleschool students, I'll be on a publishing panel at a library in the next county, and a manuscript I submitted in April hasn't been rejected yet.

Plus I'm two columns ahead (instead of frantically behind) for the humor column I write for an area newspaper.

YAY, Wendy!

YAY, me! I'm querying on one novel and writing two others! And I unclogged the toilet today all on my own!

Woo Hoo!

I would love to hear you sing, Janna. I bet you have a pretty voice. I don't. My speaking voice sounds a little like Mary-Louise Parker, so, it's hardly high and lilting.

And hooray for the writing/teaching and home repair accomplishments.

Oh, and for my own bragging, I just went over the 30,000 word mark in my work in progress, so snaps for Colby!

Yay, great for you!
Me, about myself, I'll be getting my dog! And it's the most wonderful dog ever and in September I'll go on vacations. With the person I love most on this earth.
And I will really be able to brag when I will finish my own full length writing project.
Which is at like one sentence at the moment. So congrats!

Good job, Colby.

And congrats on the dog, olivia. Dogs are great.

Fantastic accomplishment. It's easier to give up than suceed. You should be very proud to have it completed.

Me, well I have achieved so much in such a short time that I feel like I've been bragging non-stop lately. Time to let others share their happiness.
