"Writes in Peoria" just doesn't have the same ring...

As some of you may know, my husband is in the finance business here in NYC. It's been a crazy couple of days here. And although I know lots of people at Lehman, my husband is not one of them. Still, scary times for the investment world. My husband has lived through a meltdown before, back when he was a young, bright-eyed analyst at Drexel Burnham Lambert. So showing up for work one day to find your stuff in a box is always been something that he's entertained as a possibility.

This crisis did prompt a discussion about the priorities in our lives. Number one by a wide margin: family. As much as we love living in Manhattan, we could be happy most anywhere, doing most anything. Just saying that out loud made me feel better--much more secure. Everything else can fall into place after that.

Jeez, I said "my husband" a bunch of times, didn't I? Such the little wifey.

Aw, but it was sweet. ;)

I wondered about you and this latest development, but I'm glad to hear you guys are comfortable with whatever comes your way.

With your priorities in place, you'll do great wherever you go. And you're right..."Writes in Peoria" doesn't have the same ring. But "Penning in Peoria," isn't so bad. ;) And who knows, maybe you'll drop into a really fab situation/setting! Write on.

Peoria is still a city, no? Maybe it's not THE city, but I say have blog, will travel.

Thanks for thinking of me, Janna. All is still well at the House of Cebula.

And no offense to any Peoria fans. I just like the sound of that town.

It's a scary time, I think more so than many realize. But you're right, family is at the center.

I hope for the best situation for you and your family. You have a great attitude.

My guy and I have discussed "what if we moved" scenarios before. I say very reasonably that I can be happy anywhere and I think I'm being honest.

Then I think of how much I love Pittsburgh and my friends here and I contemplate glueing my feet to my apartment floor.

I found you from Janna's blog. My husband went through a rough time last year being in the Construction Industry at the start of all of this. You do change your priorities very quickly. We've found doing what you love is much more important than making the money. Blessings!
